Meaningful Growth Requires Presence

Meaningful Growth Requires Presence

At the beginning of this year, I was asking a quiet question.

What does it look like to build something without abandoning myself?

I knew I wanted to lead from a filled cup.
I did not want my work to require proving, pushing, or constant output.
I wanted the way I worked to match the values I teach.

So I made a simple but consequential decision.

One day each week was protected.

No producing.
No problem solving.
No forward motion.

Just space to notice what was happening inside me and around me.

I did not realize at the time how much that choice would shape the rest of the year.

Because when I slowed down enough to refill, something unexpected happened: I showed up differently.

I listened more fully.
I rushed less quickly to solutions.
I noticed what people were not saying as much as what they were.

And that changed the work.

The moments that stayed with me this year were not milestones or metrics. They were human moments.

A leader exhaling for the first time in a conversation.
Another experiencing relief from manic episodes.
One client reporting improved relationships.

When clients open up because they feel seen, heard, and safe, I know I am doing the work I am meant to do. And I know I am doing it in a way that is sustainable.

This year reminded me:

We can only lead others out of the overflow of our own journeys. If I hadn’t made sure I was leading myself first, I would have missed these moments.

If you are leading and feeling tired, disconnected, or alone, I want you to hear this clearly.

Start taking care of yourself. Today.

Not sure how?

Reach out to schedule a time to connect. I’d love to walk with you.
